About the Couple: From the Bride: We’ve been together for 4 years- long term family friends who reconnected. Collin is military and gone a lot so when he is home we take advantage of alllll the date nights. Usually we like to try a new restaurant since we have moved to different cities due to the navy, then we always get dessert somewhere and hangout at home for a movie night.
About the Session: With Katie and Collin already traveling to the mountains from their home in Virginia beach for wedding planning it seemed fitting to capture their engagement photos here! Max Patch provides beautiful 360 degrees views of the Blue Ridge Parkway. These views are worth the time but definitely an adventure to drive up the roads to access. I loved their outfit choices for this session. With the cold winter weather it can often be hard to find an outfit that you feel good in, while also keeping warm. Katie and Collin were able to find such good neutral options that provided them with a variety of different looks. Even just adding and removing jackets can provide some warmth and variation to your session- plus, it comes in handy with that chilly weather!
I love how much Katie and Collin laugh together. You can tell that they truly love being able to spend time together. They also trusted us and were up for anything- even driving up bumpy dirt roads, and hiking up snowy trails to get to these views! This means so much to us and definitely shows in the photos. Our biggest tip for those of you working with us or any photographer is to trust us. We have shot hundreds of weddings and sessions, and we know what works and what doesn’t. You will ultimately get the most out of your photos, when you trust your photographer.
About the Wedding: Katie and Collin will be getting married in the mountains next April and have chosen Chestnut Ridge for their wedding Venue. We are very excited to shoot at this location with their white barn and beautiful mountain views! This location just 30 min outside of Asheville provides a great mix of the mountains as well as nearby access to a the city.
